Cowen names 2 October as second referendum date
The Independent reports that Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen has announced that the second referendum on the Lisbon Treaty will take place on 2 October.
But it is leader where they hit the nail :)
There is no viable alternative to the streamlining of EU power which the Lisbon Treaty involves. It is essential to helping tackle the big issues the world now faces: the recession, regulating the financial system and climate change. But the kind of politicking that continues over Lisbon only underscores the democratic deficit at the heart of the European Union. And that deficit adds fuel to the arguments of its muddle-headed critics.

Go Ireland, go. Vote no.
Hello,
I pray that the people of Ireland votes NO again, on 2nd October 2009. Like in 2008, and whenever Brussels tries to humbug them.
The german BVerfG, the consitutional court, the highest in Germany, had great doubts, if the “Lisbon treaty” is compatible with the german constitution. Due to the obvious lack of democratic legitimation of the EU commission and minister council. In its’ present form, the treaty violates german constitutional law.
This shall give hope to all clever Irish people, who are not taken in by some miserable tricks of Brussels, by which it tries to even fuel the ruthless european abortion industry!

The Happy Family
Once upon a time there was a family treaty-ing themselves to a visit in Lisbon. On the sunny day that it was they decided to go out together. Everyone had to agree on what they would do. “So”, said Daddy Brusselsprout “Let’s all go for a picnic!” “No”, said Aunt Erin, “I don’t want to”. Did they then think of something else, that they might indeed agree on? Oh yes they did? Oh no they didn’t! Daddy Brusselsprout asked all the others anyway, isolating Erin, and then asked her if instead, she would like to go with them to the park and eat out of a lunch basket….
Kids, we’ll finish this story tomorrow, and remember, in the EU yes means yes and no means yes as well!
