A Conference on the ‘Future of Europe’ is being held in Berlin on 23 - 25 March, 2007, coinciding with the Berlin Declaration on the 50th Annivarsary of the Treaty of Rome. The conference is organised through the cooperation of the European Party, the EUDemocrats, the pro-democracy organisation Mehr Demokratie and the social initiative group Social Impulses.
The purpose of the conference is “to make sure that EU leaders fully understand our concerns and demands. Instead of an elitist celebration of the past we prefer to address real problems: How to create a democratic Europe of the citizens? How can we achieve and safeguard real subsidiarity, democratic control, transparency and direct citizen participation?”
The various speakers include leading advocates in the pro-democracy field of civil society, as well as MEPs and national MPs.
